Catwalk Shopping: Summer Pastels

Yesterday I visited an exhibition of 5 artists including my mother ("Marjanne Beeuwkes")! The Gallery is called "Galerie Rudolfv" & is located in the centre of Amsterdam. It is the second time for my mom to exhibit in this particular gallery & again we were very proud!! Last year she sold her work within one hour! For this series called "Facebox" she used a lot of matchboxes as you can see which I think give a great effect! The big piece she sold yesterday so off course that's a reason to celebrate!

The other 4 artist were also very impressive but one in particular caught my attention. The photographer "Grzegorz Rogala" showed these moving pictures. He uses multiple layers which create a 3D-effect (when you move the pictures move & change as well). Very cool!

Attic Shots Part 2: Neon vs Pastel

This weekend I worked on my Neon vs Pastel theme again. As you can see this time I used the colors Neon Yellow, Baby Blue & a hint of Cobalt Blue. The white & blue tea lights (Zara Home) on the second picture inspired me to use the Cobalt Blue. I'm trying to keep these styling projects as low budget as possible so I use a lot of stuff from our local thrift shop (witch I can't live without!!) & I try to be creative without spending a lot of money... The things you can do with spray paint! Like the stools on the second picture, I bought for 4,50 each and painted them in some fresh colours. As good as new! I hope I can inspire you with these images! Can't wait to start on my next project :)

Last week I visited Habitat in Barcelona. Me and my colleagues were on another shopping trip (lucky bastards!) and fortunately we had some time to visit Habitat! It was the first time for me (I didn't know this shop until recently) and I really liked the collection!! Especially the beautiful lamps... These are my favorites... I came across the website of this great designer called Kirath Ghundoo. She's specialized in surface pattern design & developed these Mix 'n' Match wallpaper collections, I've never seen anything like it! The patterns aren't meant to seamlessly match up. The user has a choice of seven patterns to create an eclectic feature wall. Designed digitally, the patterns can endlessly be displayed within a mixture of combinations or as single strips. How I would love to make a statement like this in my home...

DIY: Neon Power

Yeah! I Finally learned how to knit! My sweet sister showed me how to work those needles... I have a feeling it's gonna be my new addiction ;) And how awesome are these neon yarns!!

The first result you can see here... I think it's nice to combine pastels & neon colors in one piece.

The vases I bought at our local thrift shop & spray painted some of them with a white primer, its easy and not expensive! For the fake flowers I used a neon pink spray paint. I'm very happy with the result & hope you like it as well!

Today I went on a shopping trip to Antwerp... Such a lovely city!! I made some extra effort to go to "Bazar Bizar" (Steenhouwersvest 18). It's a bohemian shop but also a Bed & Breakfast! Today I finally finished the pillow case I wanted to make for a while...

I didn't use my sowing machine for quite a long time so my patience was tested ;)

You can upload your own design on www.spoonflower.com & they print it on the fabric that you choose (there are 5 qualities you can choose from) & within a few weeks you have your own fabric!

Can't wait to finish my next one...

Take a peak into my home! I can never really pick a style.

As you can see I love bright colours & prints but I also love raw materials like untreated wood, rusty metal, leather & other heavy textiles. I guess you don't ever have to pick a style, you can just do whatever you feel like doing!!

How I love the products of Rie Elise Larsen!! If she doesn't brighten up your day then who will!? The beautiful prints, paper art & porcelain.... I would love to have some of it!! Especially when you're thinking of christmas, how cute are the paper art ornaments!
