Styling with an Autumn Bouquet for Vtwonen

I was very flattered when Vtwonen asked me a couple of weeks ago if I wanted to blog for them. I'm very excited to tell you that I will be blogging about greens, one of my favourite topics to blog about! Now I have another excuse to come home with some new plants once in a while...

My first blog is about styling an autumn bouquet. I picked out these beautiful branches at the gardening centre because they are a perfect fit for this time of year. You can style these branches in many ways, I decided to show you three settings with different vases. I collected many of my vases and divided them into three groups, you can see what a difference these vases can make! You can read the article (in Dutch) for Vtwonen here.

GLASS
The glass vases are almost non-excisting and therefor not distracting from the shape and colours of the branches. It's almost as if the branches are floating.

WHITES
When you only use white vases, it doesn't really matter which shape they have or if they're vintage or modern design. The colour white makes them easily blend in with each other. I think the white makes the whole setting more fresh & modern.

VINTAGE
During my trips to the thrift shop, I often stumble upon retro vases that I just can't resist taking home with me. For this setting I collected some vases in brown shades with different patterns & shapes. These vintage vases really bring out the warm colours of the branches even more so I think it's a great match!

Fashionista Interior Special

This week I received the Fashionista Interior Special. Me and my talented friend Martine styled and photographed four theme's (Pretty Pastel, White on White, Boho Ibiza & Animal Kingdom) with DIY & shopping inspiration. I'm very happy with the result and proud to show it to you!

For the theme Pretty Pastel we used my workspace and turned it into a sweet candy-coloured room. As a DIY we decorated some pushpins with nail polish. The little round pin board I made earlier as a little DIY project. After styling this room I didn't want to change it back.... I especially love the triangle rug by Broste Copenhagen!

For the White on White theme we used our bedroom which luckily is pretty white itself! We removed everything that wasn't white & added some cool white items. For instance the By Nord duvet cover with the polar bear. As you can see, our cat Def was in love! The little hints of wooden details gives the room a warm touch. As a DIY we made a romantic dreamcatcher with lace, ribbons and feathers.

For the Boho Ibiza theme we created a little wardrobe corner with bright colors and bohemian accessories. Of course this theme wouldn't be complete without a few cacti! As a DIY we made some colorful clothing hangers by using different kinds of cords and wrapping them around the clothing hangers. You do need some patience with this one!

Last but not least we created a little wilderness in my attic for the theme Animal Kingdom. We decorated the wall with a couple of cool animal illustrations & wallpaper by Eijffinger. The tropical plants give it an extra jungle feeling. As a DIY we painted a leopard print on a simple white lampshade. This lamp really was the finishing touch!

I hope you like this production, feel free to let me know which theme is your favorite!

The Colorful Home of Joost & Martijn

Let me show you this amazing home of my friends Joost & Martijn! They were kind enough to let me take these pictures of their place. Joost & Martijn live in the centre of Amsterdam and are constantly busy decorating & thinking of smart ways to restyle every room on its own.
I think they make a great pair! After finishing the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Joost started working in fashion. Besides his job, Joost does a lot of textile & print design. Almost every fabric or print in their home, is designed by Joost. I'm totally in love with his prints, look at those sofa's! Martijn on the other hand, is quite the handyman! For instance, he painted a couple of boring kitchen cabinets in a bright yellow, love it! He also made this graphic pattern on the kitchen floor, I'm sure he has a lot of patience...

Well, I could go on for a while about this creative couple, but I think these pictures speak for themselves. Take a look at this colorful, eclectic home with a mixture of vintage, design, bold prints & unique pieces! If you want to know more about the work of Joost, click here to visit his website. There will be a webshop in the near future so I'll keep you posted!
