Thrift Shop

Lately I haven't had a lot of time to visit any thrift shops and I was starting to feel a little restless... Well maybe that sounds a bit dramatic but let's say thrifting just makes me very happy! Last Friday I made some time to visit a couple of thrift stores and off course I took some new treasures home with me! At one store I found a box full of beautiful doilies and I picked out the best ones in white and pink. As you can see they have some embroidery as well, aren't they cute? The pink teacup and the lilac bedspread I found at the same store and together I think they make a beautiful pastel composition!

I used the lilac bedspread in our guestroom and styled it with some accessories that I thrifted earlier this year in Belgium. The lamp is very kitsch but that is probably the reason why I like it so much... The little bird illustration we also found in Belgium during our thrift shop tour that we made this summer. These small things can make me very happy!

Colour of the year: Ochre Gold

A couple of weeks ago I got the opportunity to give a workshop with the new Flexa colours of 2016 at the Meet The Blogger Conference. The workshop was about creating a graphic artwork with tape and your favourite colour palette. It was so much fun and I was very impressed by the result of all the participants! You can read about it here. During the workshop, we also used the colour of the year "Ochre Gold", a very warm and strong colour that combines perfectly with light pastels or even dark earthy colours.

Again I had the great opportunity to work with Flexa. This time they asked me If I wanted to use Ochre Gold in my home, and so I did! I was already busy changing our bedroom so this was the perfect moment to give it a complete new look! After collecting and considering a lot of ideas, I decided to paint halve of the wall in Ochre Gold and finish it with a small yellow line.

I'm so happy with the result! It gives our bedroom a warm glow and I think it's a perfect match with our teak furniture & green plants! I still have a lot of ideas for some finishing touches of our bedroom like new curtains and some frames on the wall... But for now I'm very excited about his new look!

Breakfast in Bed with Auping

At the end of 2014, I received a very nice email from the people at Auping. I was offered to test one of their duvet covers! I chose the "Perdita", a cotton flannel duvet cover with a black and white leopard print. When I received it, I immediately wanted to try it out! First, I had to get used to the cotton flannel but when I slept underneath this cover for a couple of nights, I started to enjoy it more and more. The fabric is very soft and comfortable, now I'm hooked! On top of that, the black & white leopard print looks great in our bedroom! Even more reason to stay inside, snuggle up, sleep late and have breakfast in bed during these cold & rainy days...

Urban Jungle Bloggers: Cosy and Green bedroom

If you've read my latest Urban Jungle Bloggers post you know I just joined this green community. I love it! This month's theme is "Cosy and green bedroom". Very appropriate because lately it's getting colder and aren't we all longing for our warm and cosy bedroom when this time of year arrives? Our bedroom is completely black and white, the only room in our house where I didn't use any colours. For this theme I decided to add some greens and a hint of light pink with the blanket. I also used the Lemur poster by Kris Tate which I wrote about earlier... I think the plants give our bedroom a fresh look!

A Happy Home

Weekend has started! I hope you're enjoying yours! Some Happy Home shots for today... I've been busy renovating our kitchen, I started by painting the kitchen cabinets and made new handles out of leather. We removed the cabinets on the wall and replaced them with shelfs. I also painted the tiles instead of replacing them with new ones. It really is an improvement but I still have some changes to make... As you can see I love bright colours in my home. It gives me a happy and summery feeling! Thinking about changing my living room though, does it ever stop?? I'm afraid not!
